About how I made this game


Hi, it's Saitoki.

In this devlog post I would like to explain how this game was made. 

As stated in first devlog, this game was made as an experiment for developing on the go on Android phone, and the art was put through auto colorization online. 

Because I wanted to make it fast, some corners were cut. I first sketched the character and backgrounds in black and white on the Medibang paint app on phone, here are some examples (you could see Jane looked kind of different in game because I was lazy to line her)




After that, I put all the sketches through an AI colorazion tool called Petalica Paint . After that, I gave the color generated results some paint over to smooth out the uneven colors, add shadow and hight light, cut the character sprites, draw extra expression etc.

This is the first time I used this AI coloring tool in visual novel and I really liked it. It helped decrease the developing time tremendously. Admittedly I won't be using it for longer game or commercial  project, but if I get another small, spark of inspiration idea like this one, I would probably use it again. My time is limited and I would probably give up on the small idea if it get in the way of the bigger projects.
